Running Your Own Safelist - Part 1
In this article, we′re going to cover how to get started running your own safelist. If you’re ready for something like this then you might want to read this review. It will save you a lot of grief in the process.
Safelist advertising, if you’ve read my reviews, is not all that great. The response is pretty bad and if you make 1 or 2 sales a month, you’ve done great. However, as a safelist owner, you have the potential to make quite a bit of money if you do things just right. The key is to give your members more than they are paying for, especially if you have multiple levels of membership, which most safelist hosting companies have.
The first thing you want to do, before you even sign up with a safelist hosting company, is think of a name for your safelist. Think this isn’t important? It’s VERY important. You want a name that people are going to remember. So give this a lot of thought.
The next thing you want to do is find a good hosting company that is compatible with a number of safelist submitters. Why is this important? Simple. The more safelist members you have, the more chance to make sales, even if you have nothing but free members. If you’re wondering how this is possible, I’ll explain.
One thing that members of a safelist agree to is to get emails from the administrator of the safelist. This is his chance to email his various offers to the members of the list. If he has something of value that people will want to get he can make a nice side income from this without having to do too much advertising. Why not too much? I refer you back to the point above about having a safelist that is compatible with a number of submitters so that the member count starts to rise. Are the lights coming on? They should.
After you find your hosting company, you want to sign up and then setup your account. They’re going to ask you a lot of questions like how often free members can submit their ads, pro members, platinum members and so on. Make sure you spend a lot of time on this information because it is critical. It will basically set the tone for your whole safelist membership. You especially want to pay close attention to the section where you set the fees for pro and platinum members. You want to make this cheap enough to be affordable but enough to make a profit, even if it is a small one. It doesn′t take much to pay for your safelist membership as most are about $10 a month.
In our next installment of running your own safelist, we′ll cover some tips on how to make your safelist more attractive and how to get more members into it. There are a number of things that you can do that if you do them, you will find that you have a safelist that has grown to monster size.
